Where did I visit during these two weeks by bus and tram only in London?
In the previous article, I talked about my experience of going all-in bus and tram only in London, with less than £25 per week visiting various places. Here are my list of places I went to in the recent two weeks.
Wimbledon Windmill Museum
There are three windmills in London which are open to the public, and Wimbledon Windmill Museum is one of them. This was my first time visiting a windmill, and this museum provides a lot of valuable information in terms of videos, scaled models, and the equipments which was used before to give visitors an idea of what windmills are. It is free and the inside is cool, suitable for the visit during summer.
The museum opens on weekends only, with Saturday for the afternoon from 2 to 5pm and Sunday 11am to 5pm. 8-minute walk from Parkside Hospital bus stop by bus route 93 from Putney Bridge or Wimbledon high streets / stations.
Colliers Wood library
I was attracted to the architecture of the library according to the photo shown on the official website of the library, but realized that it is located on the ground floor of a residential building.
The library has two levels, with only downstairs for the bookshelves and upstairs for computer uses. It is good for the residents to visit regularly though, as the air conditioning is strong enough and there is a coffee shop inside.
Transport: bus routes 200 from Wimbledon
Caterham
London bus also covers towns just outside the city. Caterham, Surrey is one of them, which can be reached by 407 bus from Croydon and Sutton. Refer to my previous article: A visit to Caterham — a day trip outside London by London bus only
Croydon Airport
The airport is no longer in operation, but the terminal building is still open to the public in terms of the cafe inside and guided tours for visitors to understand what flying experiences were a hundred year ago! Get there by buses 119 or 289!

Thornton Heath Library
The library since 1914 while partial modernisation was done a few years ago by an architecture company to add minimalist designs while preserving traditional elements. You may find some information and history about Thornton Heath on the wall of the library.
Just take the bus 250 from Brixton, or other routes like 109 or 289 with ten-minute walk.
Croydon Ecology Centre
The centre so that you can see animals like sheep. Unfortunately it didn’t open as stated on their website, while the gate has the most up-to-date opening hours: the first and third Sunday (11am to 4:30pm during summer, and closes an hour earlier during winter) of every month.
Transport: Coombe Lane tram stop by tram or bus (130).
Southbank (BFI Cinema, National Theatre and Royal Festival Hall)
Southbank is a cultural hub along the river, while it’s good to enjoy the sun with a coffee or glass of beer, or simply take a seat in any venue to work with your laptop. BFI Cinema has a lot of great movies with cheap tickets under £10. National Theatre architecture is worth visiting. Royal Festival Hall has plenty of spaces for socialising or doing something great (like sketching, see Southbank Portrait Session — a great event to enjoy portrait sketches in London) together.
