Apps for exploring London
There are some apps when you travel and even stay in London. Here is my list.
Weather
MetOffice is the official weather forecast app in the UK which has 7-day forecast with UV, pollen, air pollution and weather map including cloud cover and rainfall.
There are also long-term forecasts but in words instead of numbers, but I love Met Office to be responsible to have such a report because the weather is always changeable in this country.
Although Met Office does provide sunrise and sunset information, SunCalc.net is more comprehensive by showing users the angles of the sun in specific locations (like current one) with respect to different timings in different dates. If you want to plan to watch a sunrise or sunset when you head somewhere, it's an app for you.
Nature
There are so many kinds of birds settling in the UK, and you can be close to them in so many parks and woods in London. It's always good to understand different types of birds.
Merlin Bird ID is able to recognise birds through images and sound recordings, thanks to their big database. Not to mention the app is totally free as it has been developed and maintained by Cornell University.
Explore places
There are many apps to explore the city:
Google Maps covers a lot of shops and the shop owners update their opening hours here just in case.
If you want to find cheap good food and even want to enjoy sunny outdoors, with even great breakfast provided by hotels, Too Good to Go will bring you surprise.
The Secret is an app without any automation and AI, and they choose good creators, designers and artists to curate great places in the cities they are living. See The Secret app — the most meaningful and authentic travel guide created by doers and creators.
Bloomberg Connects provides tour guides in some museums.
GalleriesNow has news and information about art museums and independent galleries in London and other cities like Paris.
If you choose to travel in special ways like running, Strava has some suggestions when you arrange a route. Its map is good for exploring green areas too!
Transport
Besides Google Maps, Citymapper is more comprehensive with latest transportation service updates, various options of transportation mode, frequency of the services if you can't catch on time.
Transport for London has its own app too: TfL Go has an interactive network map and some sightseeing information when searching.
